The Fireplace

In a cozy room at the close of day,
A fireplace crackles, bright and gay.
With sparks that dance and warm light that glows,
It tells a tale that every child knows.

Gather 'round, little ones, come hear its song,
Of adventures bold and nights so long.
In its warmth, we find stories untold,
Of brave knights, dragons, and treasures of gold.

So as the flames leap and the embers burn,
By the fireplace, we all take our turn.
To dream of places far and wide,
With the fireplace, our trusty guide.
Flames transforming into a dragon's silhouette
Flames transforming into a dragon’s silhouette

Inspirations Behind

As I set out to write “The Fireplace,” I wanted to capture the enchantment I felt as a child listening to stories by the fire. I remember the fireplace as a gathering spot where the boundaries between the real and the imaginary blurred. In my mind’s eye, the flames transformed into characters and scenes from far-off lands. This poem is a homage to those moments of wonder and the timeless allure of storytelling by the warmth of a fire. It’s about reigniting that spark of imagination in children and adults alike, reminding us of the joy found in stories shared and dreams kindled by the gentle crackle of a fireplace.
