The Love of God

The Love of God

The sun, it rises by His grace,
A guiding hand both near and far.
Each star in night knows its own place.

The smallest seed, the wind’s embrace,
He tends each bloom, both bright and mar.
The sun, it rises by His grace.

No sparrow falls but through His gaze,
Each breath we take, no life bizarre.
Each star in night knows its own place.

Through seas He calms and skies He lays,
His love, it stretches where we are.
The sun, it rises by His grace.

No joy too small, no pain erased,
His care is vast, no space ajar.
Each star in night knows its own place.

Each heart, He holds in warm embrace,
With endless love, our bright North Star.
The sun, it rises by His grace,
Each star in night knows its own place.

Meaning

This poem celebrates the all-encompassing love of God, a force that governs both the vastness of the universe and the smallest moments of life. Through imagery of stars, seeds, and sparrows, it shows how God’s care extends from the grand to the tiny, holding everything together with unceasing love.

Inspiration Behind

I wrote this poem thinking about how everything in life, big or small, feels touched by something greater. I see God’s hand in the rising sun, the stars, and even in little things like flowers and birds. The structure of the villanelle felt perfect to repeat the feeling of steady care and endless love.
